The Greater Cumberland Chamber of Commerce has secured one of Western Sydney’s leading business honours, being named Business NSW Outstanding Local Chamber at the 2026 Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE).
The award was presented during the 36th Annual WSABE Golden Stars Gala, held at CommBank Stadium in Parramatta on Friday, 4 September 2026, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs, community organisations and industry representatives from across Greater Western Sydney.
The recognition marks a significant achievement for the Greater Cumberland Chamber and acknowledges its work supporting businesses through advocacy, networking, knowledge sharing and business promotion.
WSABE officially congratulated the Chamber following the awards, highlighting its role in creating opportunities for local businesses to “connect, learn and grow”.
A Growing Voice for Western Sydney Businesses
The Greater Cumberland Chamber has evolved considerably over its history.
Its origins date back to 2011, when it was established as the Holroyd Council CBD Committee before becoming the Merrylands Chamber of Commerce. Following local government changes and the creation of Cumberland Council, the organisation expanded its reach, later extending its activities into areas including Fairfield and Strathfield.
Today, the Chamber operates around five key principles: representation, knowledge sharing, socialisation, business promotion and fostering cross-cultural synergies.
Those priorities reflect the highly multicultural communities the organisation represents, with the Chamber placing particular emphasis on connecting businesses from diverse cultural backgrounds with each other, government representatives and opportunities for growth.
Under the leadership of President Immanuel Selvaraj, alongside the Chamber’s board and members, the organisation has continued to develop programs, workshops, networking opportunities and business events designed to strengthen Western Sydney’s local economy.
Recent initiatives have included cross-cultural leadership workshops, business networking activities and collaborations aimed at providing business owners with practical knowledge and stronger connections across government, industry and multicultural communities.
Recognition on One of Western Sydney’s Biggest Business Stages
Established by the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce in 1990, the Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence have grown into one of the region’s major annual business recognition programs.
In 2026, WSABE celebrated its 36th year, with awards covering areas including innovation, sustainability, diversity and inclusion, leadership, community organisations, business growth and local chambers of commerce. Since its establishment, the program has received more than 5,000 entries from across Western Sydney.
The 2026 gala attracted more than 600 business leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, government representatives and community figures to CommBank Stadium.
Among the other major winners on the night were Hume Community Housing, named Commonwealth Bank Business of the Year; Ensitech, recognised for Excellence in Innovation; Forsight Australia for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion; and WEN Architects for Excellence in Small to Medium Enterprise.
For the Greater Cumberland Chamber, however, the Outstanding Local Chamber award carries particular significance because it recognises not simply the success of an individual business, but the Chamber’s broader contribution to supporting and strengthening an entire business community.

Celebrating the announcement, the Greater Cumberland Chamber described the award as an extraordinary milestone for both the organisation and the wider Greater Cumberland business community.
The Chamber said the achievement belonged to the members, supporters, partners, board members and businesses that had contributed to its journey and growth.
That collective approach has been central to the organisation’s development, particularly in a region characterised by small and medium businesses, entrepreneurs and culturally diverse communities.
Winning the 2026 Business NSW Outstanding Local Chamber Award places the Greater Cumberland Chamber among the organisations being recognised for shaping the future of Western Sydney’s business landscape.
More importantly, it provides recognition for the network of local businesses and community leaders behind the Chamber — and for the role strong local business organisations continue to play in connecting people, sharing knowledge and creating economic opportunities across one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most diverse regions.
