These ads featured a sales professional and staff dressed as health workers, creating a false impression of their qualifications. One video allegedly employed AI to depict a woman performing dental work, who was later identified as a sales professional from a Brisbane dental clinic engaged in a partnership with Hismile. According to ABC News, Australian Dental Association president Chris Sanzaro criticized the ads as significantly misleading, emphasizing that viewers could be misled into believing these individuals were registered health professionals.

In addition to the use of AI-generated imagery, another controversial ad featured a woman who has been permanently banned from providing health services due to safety concerns. This ad showcased clips of decayed teeth appearing to heal after a liquid substance was applied, which raised further ethical questions about the claims being made. Hismile had recently faced penalties from a consumer watchdog for separate alleged false and misleading representations in its advertising.

Sanzaro pointed out that disclaimers should be clear and easily readable to avoid misleading the public.
