On Saturday morning, June 6, Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, witnessed the inauguration of a new Coptic school adjacent to the Saints Antonios and Paul Church in the Guildford neighborhood of western Sydney. The school has been named St. Antonios College.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was officiated by Mr. Jason Clare, a member of parliament and the federal Minister for Education, in the presence of His Grace Bishop Daniel, the Bishop of Sydney and its environs. Other notable attendees included Ms. Reem Zahra, the Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Sydney; Mr. Edmond Attallah, a member of the New South Wales Parliament and Assistant Minister for Police and Counter-Terrorism; Ms. Julia Finn, another member of the New South Wales Parliament; and Ms. Ola Hamid, Mayor of Cumberland. The school’s director, Ms. Alice William, along with several priests and members of the church community, were also present.

St. Antonios College is the fourth Coptic school in Australia, following the Virgin Mary School in Melbourne, St. Mark’s School in Sydney, the Virgin Mary and St. Mina School in Sydney, and St. Bishoy School in Sydney.
