Arabic version: السفير الإيراني ينفي مزاعم الهجمات على منشآت النفط السعودية

Iran’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, denied Tehran is responsible for attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil infrastructure, saying if it was behind the strikes, it would have announced it. Enayati stated that Iran focuses its military actions on U.S. and Israeli targets during the ongoing conflict, as reported by Al Jazeera.

The comments come in the wake of recent incidents, including a fire at the Ras Tanura oil refinery caused by debris from a drone and attempted attacks on the Shaybah oilfield. Despite these events, Saudi Arabia’s Defence Ministry has not blamed anyone for the attacks.

Enayati noted that he maintains direct communication with Saudi officials, describing the evolution of relations as “progressing naturally”. He mentioned discussions regarding Saudi Arabia’s publicly stated position that its land, sea, and air would not be used to target Iran, although he did not provide further details.

In light of the ongoing conflict, Enayati called for a reevaluation of relationships among Gulf states and emphasized the need for deeper cooperation to address regional tensions. He also reiterated that Iran does not target civilian areas and expressed readiness to collaborate with neighboring countries to investigate the responsibility for recent strikes.

The situation remains complex, with various nations in the region expressing frustration over being drawn into conflicts instigated by external powers, particularly the U.S. and Israel. Enayati asserted that a resolution would require an end to attacks by these nations and the establishment of international security guarantees to prevent future aggression.
