An Israeli airstrike in eastern Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of at least 10 individuals, including a Hezbollah military official, according to Middle East Eye. The attack occurred on February 21, 2026, and has also left 24 others injured, among them three children. Local reports suggest that the number of fatalities may be higher, estimating at least a dozen dead and over 30 wounded across the region.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed the casualties from the airstrike, which took place in Bednayel, a location in the Bekaa Valley. Ongoing search and rescue operations are being conducted at the site of the attack, as authorities work to assess the full extent of the damage.

Hezbollah identified the deceased military leader as Muhammad Hassan Yaghi, whose death was confirmed following the strikes. In light of these attacks, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun issued a warning, stating that continued Israeli violations threaten diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing the region.

Additionally, Hamas condemned the Israeli targeting of the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp, claiming that the assault represents a severe escalation and a violation of Lebanese sovereignty. The group criticized Israeli claims of targeting operational centers within the camp, labeling them as baseless pretexts for aggression against civilians.

Despite a ceasefire agreement established in November 2024, reports indicate that Israeli strikes have persisted almost daily, resulting in over 370 deaths in Lebanon. The ongoing violence raises concerns about the stability of the region, as Lebanon’s government continues efforts to disarm Hezbollah and assert control along the Israeli border.
