Arabic version: جاجوار جونز تعود بألبوم «بيت ماستر» بعد توقف صحي
According to The Guardian, Australian singer-songwriter Jaguar Jonze is preparing to release her dance-pop album Beatmaster on 29 January 2027 after pausing her music career because of serious health problems. Jonze, whose real name is Deena Lynch, has released the first three singles from the record and is taking tentative steps back into the industry.
Jonze publicly alleged she had been assaulted as the #MeToo movement took hold in Australia’s music industry. While her criminal case moved through the courts, she became an advocate for women and survivors of sexual assault, helped shape the federal government’s National Cultural Policy and contributed to an independent review. Her case ended in a mistrial in 2023, and a re-trial was not pursued.
In 2024, Jonze began experiencing seizures, paralysis, chronic pain and difficulty walking. She was diagnosed with functional neurological disorder and lupus, an autoimmune disease. A five-hour seizure while she was touring in Melbourne forced her to step away from work and focus on rehabilitation for four months. Water therapy helped, though she was largely bedridden and needed mobility aids to walk.
After a friend arranged an accessible stay in Bali, Jonze extended what was intended as a short visit and made the relocation permanent. Based there in 2024, she regained strength gradually, continued writing music and took up freediving. She said she can dive more than 30 metres without safety gear or breathing equipment, and felt the activity helped her reconnect with her body.
The new songs differ from her debut album, Bunny Mode, which addressed injustice and trauma. Jonze said she wanted to write for fun, producing tracks including “Kawasaki Ninja”, named after motorcycles she rode before becoming ill. She now intends to protect her wellbeing, reduce physically demanding performances and limit access to her personal life, having handed her Instagram account to her management team.
