Liarna Peters, a 14-year-old girl, is recovering in Sydney Children’s Hospital after suffering injuries from a violent attack by a group of girls at a beachside party in Kiama. The incident, which occurred on March 21, was recorded on mobile phone footage, prompting an investigation by NSW Police. According to ABC News, Liarna was initially excited to attend the gathering but soon found herself in a dangerous situation.

The attack began with a verbal confrontation that escalated quickly. Liarna described how she was surrounded by multiple girls who physically assaulted her. “They dragged me to the ground and a bunch of them were jumping on my head,” she recounted. She lost consciousness during the attack, and bystanders reportedly did not intervene, which left her feeling particularly devastated.

Liarna’s mother, Ellyse Peters, received a call about her daughter’s injuries while waiting nearby. After a friend helped carry Liarna to her car, Ellyse called for police and an ambulance. Fortunately, Liarna was later assessed for spinal fractures but only sustained bruising and minor facial injuries.

The assault is part of a troubling trend of filmed attacks among teenagers, raising concerns about youth violence and its portrayal on social media. Detective Superintendent Phil Hallinan of NSW Police emphasized the importance of addressing these violent incidents and the impact of sharing such footage online. He noted that police are actively working with schools to educate students about the dangers involved.

In her recovery, Liarna aims to raise awareness about bullying, stating, “Physically or mentally bullying someone or putting someone else down is horrible.” She expressed a desire to prevent others from experiencing similar trauma, highlighting the urgent need for change in how bullying is addressed in communities.
