According to BBC News, Kilmarnock manager Neil McCann said his team need supporters “more than ever” after a 2-2 home draw with 10-man St Johnstone was met by boos and angry reactions from sections of the Rugby Park crowd.

The result moved Kilmarnock off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership, but the side let a lead slip twice despite playing against 10 men for 80 minutes. McCann said it felt like a loss after his team dropped two points from a strong position.

Kilmarnock created 22 goal attempts, their highest total in a league match this season, and made 542 passes, also their highest Premiership figure of the campaign. McCann said the team created chances but did not take them, adding that conceding two goals against 10 men was particularly painful.

The manager said he did not feel pressure personally, but felt it for his players. He said the team’s effort and willingness to win could not be questioned, while acknowledging the uneasiness in the stadium appeared to affect the players after Kilmarnock went 2-1 ahead.

Kilmarnock have two league wins all season and have taken one point from their past nine available after losing their previous two matches. Their next game before the international break is away to defending champions and league leaders Celtic, where Kilmarnock have not won since October 2012.
