According to ABC News, Brisbane Lions players and supporters celebrated the club’s last-minute win over Fremantle in the 2026 AFL grand final, with a fan day planned in Fitzroy.

Players gathered at a South Yarra bar late into the night after the cold and wet grand final day. They displayed the 2026 premiership cup and took turns drinking from it.

In Fitzroy, Lions supporters gathered at the Royal Derby Hotel to revisit the rollercoaster victory. One fan described the final moments by saying, “Those last five minutes,” while another said she thought the team had lost before it came back again.

Police said they were pleased with supporter behaviour at the MCG, where just over 100,000 spectators attended the history-making match. Nine people were evicted for behavioural issues and one penalty notice was issued. Police made no arrests.

Celebrations are set to continue at a Lions family day at Brunswick Street Oval, in the former Fitzroy Lions heartland. The players will present the premiership cup to fans, while Fremantle players fly home after the Dockers’ loss.
