More than 2 Million Australians go hungry each day, and half of those are kids.

In partnership with One Meal, an organization that prepares and serves hot meals to a wide array of people in need, the Lions Club of Canterbury Bankstown conducted a successful food drive at Bankstown Central in front of Woolworths.

During the food drive, which took place on Saturday and Sunday 22 and 23 October 2022, many members of the club donated their time and effort to raise awareness about hunger and to encourage people to donate any non-perishable food, such as pasta, tuna, rice, beans, or anything with a long expiry date. More than 10 full trolleys of a variety of food items were collected and delivered to One Meal throughout both days.

During the food drive, the club also benefitted from the event to reach out to people to let them know about the reopening of the club and to invite them to the Recharge Night which is taking place on the 11th of November at Star Buffet in Bankstown RSL.

The food drive was greatly welcomed by the community of the Canterbury-Bankstown area who donated well, either as food items or in cash. In addition to the 10 trolleys of food donated to One Meal, the club was also able to raise over $500 in cash to go into their other activities.
