After the successful food drive at Bankstown Centro, followed by the introductory meeting at the Rydges Hotel, the Lions Club of Bankstown was able to finally induct 14 new members, thereby making it possible for the club to be recharged under the name of “The Lions Club of Canterbury-Bankstown”.

During the meeting which was held on 10 May, 2022 at the Bankstown RSL Club, many veteran Lions were present including Zone 6 Chairperson Graham Estreich who spearheaded the recharge alongside GMT (Global Membership Team) Leader Lion Elvio Munzone, PDG (Past District Governor) Lion Jennifer Touzel, and District Treasurer Lion Peter Touzel. District Governor Lion Sunil Amaratunga was virtually present at the meeting as he had been representing Lions District 201N5 in a Multiple District Convention in Melbourne.

After the Invocation, the reading of the Lion’s purposes and ethics, and the DG’s welcome, Lion Graham Estreich explained the various roles of the members of the club, such as the president, the secretary, and the treasurer, and led the new Lions in the election of these new roles. Lion Christine Nassif was elected as the inaugural president of the club alongside Lion Rafi and Lion Amy as secretary and treasurer respectively.

After the induction ceremony where the new Lions received their new Lions pins and membership certificates, a variety of possible service projects were briefly discussed followed by a friendly dinner at the Banchetto by Highline in Bankstown RSL.

The new club will meet again on the First of June, 2022 at 6:30 PM in Bankstown RSL, which was adopted as the club’s headquarters, in order to discuss the charter event and other service projects. Individuals who are keen on joining the new club are encouraged to get in touch with the club via their new Facebook page.
