Liverpool removes logo of liquor sponsor out of respect for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool has removed a liquor company sponsor’s logo in a gesture of respect towards its star player Mohamed Salah and his Egyptian fan-base, during a ceremony awarding him as man of the match in Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton.

The international SPORTbible website reported that the English club removed the logo of the Danish multinational brewer Carlsberg company officially sponsoring the man of the match award, presented every match to one of the Reds stars, and one of the Liverpool club’s primary sponsors for decades.

Salah was announced as the winner of the award.

According to the network, the move came out of Liverpool’s desire to respect the beliefs of Salah and his Egyptian Muslim fanbase by not associating him with alcohol.

Liverpool fans praised the club’s move on social media, which SPORTbible called “classy and respectful”.

Salah made history with the English Premier League after he scored two goals for his team against Wolverhampton in the match held Saturday, during the fifth round of the competition.

Th Egyptian star led his team to victory and become the top African player who scored the most goals in the history of the English Premier League, beating Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who moved to the Al-Ahli Saudi FC in Jeddah this year.
