NSW Labor is today announcing Nathan Hagarty as the NSW Labor candidate for Leppington for the NSW State Election due in March 2023.

Nathan is a proud lifelong resident of South-Western Sydney and now raises his two children there with his wife Christy.

Currently serving as a Liverpool City Councillor and Treasurer of Local Government Nathan brings a wealth of experience in advocating for his local community to his candidacy.

He is also involved in his community as a director of two local not for profit community organisations.

Nathan has a record of fighting for the people of Leppington. He has led calls to ensure his community gets the roads, schools and health facilities they deserve and has backed local residents in their fight against local development and for proper infrastructure.

As a product of public education and a member of the P&C his two children attend, Nathan is concerned about the teacher shortage crisis facing NSW schools and the impact it is having on learning outcomes across the state.

But after 12 years of Liberal Government neglect, Nathan is putting his hand up to the be the state representative on Macquarie Street. He wants to fight to ensure local hospitals have the staff they need to provide patient care, he wants to fight to ensure local school have enough teachers in classrooms.

He has long supported teachers and other essential workers in their campaign for better pay and conditions and believes that only a Minns Labor government will be able to revive the health and education systems in NSW.

As a local councillor and lifelong resident of Western Sydney, Nathan believes his electorate is ready for change and he is ready to fight for them every step of the way during this campaign.

Comment from NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns:
“Nathan is a candidate who not only knows this electorate back to front but is also passionate about achieving outcomes for its residents.

“He is a person who can deliver for the people for Leppington.

“There’s no doubt this election will be an uphill battle, but candidates like Nathan will be a strong voice for change and the fresh start that Leppington needs.

Comment from Nathan Hagarty:
“I know this will be a tough election, and I don’t take anything for granted, but I love this community and believe we deserve better.

“After twelve long years this Liberal government has presided over crisis’ in our health and education systems, overdevelopment in our local suburbs and an under investment in core infrastructure we desperately need.

“I will be fighting day in and day out to ensure every single person in Leppington has access to the immense opportunities that our state has to offer.

“It’s time for a fresh start in NSW and  only a Minns Labor government can deliver that. I look forward to the opportunity to deliver for the community of Leppington.
