Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi has been repeatedly tried and jailed. Family members express grave concerns over her health, stating she received inadequate medical treatment following the incident. According to ABC News, Mohammadi was found “unconscious in her bed, with her eyes rolled back” a week prior, leading to alarms raised by her supporters.

Mohammadi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 for her activism, has faced numerous charges and imprisonment over the past 25 years. Her brother, Hamidreza Mohammadi, voiced fears for her life, emphasizing her known medical issues, including heart and pulmonary problems. He has called for her immediate release and transfer to a hospital.

On March 24, supporters reported that Mohammadi experienced a medical emergency, yet she was treated only in the prison infirmary and not transferred to a hospital “despite this medical emergency and evident indications of a heart attack.” Heightened security measures have limited her communication with family, adding to their concerns during ongoing conflicts involving Iran.

The situation escalates as another prominent activist, Nasrin Sotoudeh, has also been arrested by Iranian authorities. Her daughter reported that Sotoudeh was taken from their home without explanation, further highlighting the crackdown on dissent in Iran during the ongoing war with the US and Israel. Activists warn that these actions reflect a broader trend of suppressing civil society under the current regime.
