According to ABC News, ACT Policing is seeking public assistance after sheep were allegedly rounded up, deliberately injured and killed at a rural property in Tuggeranong, in Canberra’s south.

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday night. The property owner found the sheep in a holding pen on Thursday morning. After speaking with the owner, police said they believed multiple people attended the property on Wednesday evening and, with the assistance of dogs, rounded up eight sheep and moved them into the pen.

Police alleged multiple sheep were deliberately injured in the holding pen. One sheep died and another was euthanised because of the severity of its injuries. The property was also allegedly ransacked, with police reporting a “large amount of disruption” to the premises.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw unusual activity on the evening of September 16 on the eastern side of the Monaro Highway, between the paintball facility and the Johnson Drive roundabout, to contact ACT Policing. Police also want information about vehicles travelling to or from Old Tuggeranong Road near the pine forest.

ACT Policing is seeking information about a late-1990s or early-2000s sedan seen in the area that Wednesday. People able to assist are asked to provide their details through the Crime Stoppers ACT website and quote reference 8501989. Police said they take all reports of animal cruelty seriously.
