According to The Guardian, Queensland police are investigating possible gang involvement after Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau, 19, died following a drive-by shooting outside Fitzy’s Loganholme pub in Logan, south of Brisbane.
Schuster-Togiatau, from Jimboomba, was struck in the head and neck when masked gunmen opened fire into a crowd outside the venue on Saturday night. The pub was hosting a boxing event at the time. She died at Princess Alexandra hospital on Thursday morning.
Three men aged 27, 37 and 38 were also taken to hospital. One was recovering from surgery, while the other two had been released.
Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said about 80 police officers were involved in the murder investigation and appealed for people with information to contact police. He said investigators were keeping an open mind about gang involvement and that the inquiry could widen if it identified gang members, associates or other organised crime.
Galpin said Schuster-Togiatau’s family was “not doing well” and had asked for privacy. He said police would continue seeking those responsible for the shooting.
