South Australian police have arrested a 17-year-old they allege organised a series of public fights that were recorded and posted online.

According to ABC News, the teenager was arrested at his Davoren Park home on Tuesday and charged with seven counts of aiding and abetting fighting in a public place and seven counts of publishing material depicting offences. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court in September.

Police said they also reported a further seven teenagers from Adelaide’s northern suburbs for fighting in a public place: five boys aged between 14 and 17 and two girls aged 13 and 15. Videos of the alleged bouts were posted on YouTube and Instagram and emerged through media reporting earlier this month.

“Northern District Police continue to investigate and identify youths allegedly involved in organised fight videos posted to social media,” police said in the statement.

Police previously said more than 30 children could allegedly be seen in the videos. The reported and charged matters relate to organised public bouts that were captured on video and circulated online, and police have taken action by reporting the involved teenagers and charging the 17-year-old they allege organised the events.

Police say their investigations are ongoing. The 17-year-old has been bailed to return to the Elizabeth Youth Court in September, and the seven reported teenagers will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
