According to France 24, Spain expects solidarity as it deals with the consequences of a major migration surge into Ceuta. The report was issued on August 3, 2026, and focuses on the territory’s response after what it describes as Ceuta’s largest mass migrant crossing.

France 24 said an estimated 60,000 people rushed into Ceuta. Most of those people have since returned to Morocco, according to the report. Spanish authorities reported at least 72 deaths on August 2.

The broadcaster spoke with Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar about how Ceuta is reckoning with the aftermath of the border surge.
