According to BBC News,

Former First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, has addressed the media in her first interview since her estranged husband, Peter Murrell, pled guilty to embezzling £400,000 from the SNP. In a conversation with Laura Kuenssberg on BBC, Sturgeon firmly stated, “I will not apologise for crimes of my former husband.”

Sturgeon emphasized that she does not bear responsibility for Murrell’s actions, asserting, “I am not responsible for the crimes that my former husband committed and I’m not going to apologise for somebody else’s crimes.” She conveyed a sense of personal injustice, claiming she feels as though she is “serving a sentence for a crime I did not commit.”

Peter Murrell, the former chief executive of the SNP, admitted to misusing party funds to purchase luxury items, including jewellery, cosmetics, two cars, and a motorhome. Sturgeon has consistently denied any prior knowledge of her husband’s illicit activities.
