According to ABC News, Sydney overcame the absence of five players through suspension to beat Brisbane by 53 points in an AFL qualifying final at the SCG, while Adelaide rallied late to defeat the Western Bulldogs by 22 points in an elimination final.

The Swans were not headed in a 21.15 (141) to 13.10 (88) victory over the Lions. Logan McDonald kicked six goals, with Tom Papley and Charlie Curnow adding five each. Sydney coach Dean Cox said he was “lost for words” after the win.

Adelaide will travel to face reigning premiers Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday night, while Fremantle host Geelong in Perth on Friday night.
