According to ABC News, a 15-year-old boy is in a critical but stable condition at Gosford Hospital after an alleged stabbing at Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to a home on Painters Lane at about 9:45pm. Paramedics treated the boy for an alleged stab wound before taking him to hospital, where he underwent surgery. Police said he approached the home to seek help and residents called 000.

Brisbane Water Police District officers established a crime scene and are examining reports that two groups of teenagers were in the area. Detective Chief Inspector John Zdrilic said the boy was with two friends and they met another group that may have included up to five people. Police believe there was no confrontation between the groups in Painters Lane at this stage.

A strike force has been established to investigate what led to the alleged stabbing. No weapon has been found, no arrests have been made and investigators have not identified a person of interest. NSW Police has asked anyone with information, CCTV footage or dash-cam footage from the area to come forward.
