The meeting was chaired on the Egyptian side by accountant Hassan Tork, president of the United Democratic Party and the Democratic Union and a member of the Egyptian Parties Alliance; Dr. Nabila Sami, deputy president of the party; Ms. Naglaa Mohamed, Secretary-General for Women’s Affairs of the party; Mr. Sherif Hafez, Secretary-General of the party’s Foreign Relations Committee; Ms. Yusriya Abdel-Sami, Secretary-General for Cairo Governorate; and Ms. Hanan Amin Seif, Secretary-General of the party’s Cultural Committee.

From the Sudanese side, attendees included Dr. Sadiq al-Tom, head of the National Popular Campaign to Support the Sudanese Armed Forces and one of those affected by the war, president of the National Popular Campaign Organization for Relief and Development, and Secretary of International Leadership for Humanitarian Affairs for the Middle East (Sudan branch). Also present were Mr. Ismail Azhari Yaqub, member of the Executive Office of the Al-Asl Federal Party and representative of the Jabal (Nuba Mountains) region, and Mr. Adam Abdel Mahmoud Shartai, representative of the Darfur tribes in Khartoum State for the registered United Democratic Federal Party.

The Sudanese contingent also included Dr. Ali al-Buhairi, a strategic researcher at the Nile Foundation for Strategic and African Studies; Sudanese journalist Dr. Muhammad Salah Abdullah; and columnist Dr. Abu Obeida Ahmed Ali, president of the Sudanese-Saudi Brotherhood Association, head of the World Popular Friendship Council, and head of the Popular Integration Initiative between Egypt and Sudan (currently under formation). Dr. Abu Obeida is a former member of the Transitional National Council, a former member of the foreign relations sector, and served as head of the Saudi Arabia and Arabian Gulf department in that sector.

In press remarks after the conclusion of the Egyptian–Sudanese event, Hassan Tork said the meeting was held in a friendly, warm atmosphere among brothers. They discussed the latest developments in sister Sudan, particularly the Sudanese national dialogue, on which the Sudanese colleagues place great hopes for a promising future for Sudan after the end of the war and the restoration of peace across the country.

Tork added that the participants affirmed their full support for the Sudanese Armed Forces and discussed several proposed options, including subjecting Sudan to a central federal system, which received strong support among attendees. Another proposal for a confederal system was rejected by the majority of the meeting.

Tork concluded his statements saying the attendees affirmed the necessity and obligation of preserving Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, rejecting any interference in its internal affairs, and categorically opposing any attempts to divide Sudan or to detach any part of its territory. He expressed deep thanks, gratitude, and high appreciation for all the support provided by the Arab Republic of Egypt to halt the war, help sister Sudan resume its role in the region and on the continent, enable the return of displaced persons, and immediately begin reconstruction, development, and rebuilding. Long live Egypt, long live Egypt.
