BBC DJ and presenter Trevor Nelson has announced he is to take a little break from all work due to health issues. The Radio 2 presenter, who has been off air this week, did not go into detail about his diagnosis but told his Instagram followers that, on doctor’s orders, he was now concentrating on getting better.
According to BBC News, the 62-year-old celebrated 30 years at the BBC earlier this year, including his work on 1 Xtra, where he has championed R’n’B music in the UK.
Lorna Clarke, the BBC’s director of music, expressed support for Nelson, stating that everyone at BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1Xtra wishes him a very speedy recovery and looks forward to his return.
Nelson explained in his message that he had been advised to have some follow-up tests after a routine check-up, leading to his decision to take further time off. He emphasized the importance of dealing with facts and not speculating about health issues and is focused on getting better, being back to 100% him, and returning behind the mic and the decks.
