Arabic version: شكوى في بريطانيا تستهدف جندياً احتياطياً إسرائيلياً بشأن هدم في غزة

According to Al Jazeera, the Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a criminal complaint in the United Kingdom against Lidor Dafna, an Israeli reservist believed to be visiting the country, over alleged war crimes in Gaza.

Dafna served in the 603rd Combat Engineering Battalion and is accused of participating in the demolition of a flour-producing facility in May 2025, when Israel’s blockade of Gaza was leading to widespread starvation. The Brussels-based foundation said footage Dafna posted on social media showed an Israeli military bulldozer demolishing wheat silos in southern Gaza.

Natacha Bracq, the foundation’s head of litigation, said the group uses material posted by Israeli soldiers to build complaints. She said investigators follow the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations, geolocating footage against satellite imagery and cross-referencing military sources. Al Jazeera said it contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment but had not received a response.

International lawyer Khaled al-Shouli said online material can be valuable evidence, but that its spread does not make it decisive. He said investigators must establish the source, time and location of content, and that a soldier’s appearance at a site does not alone prove responsibility for a crime.

The foundation has pursued complaints in other countries, including Belgium, Canada and Brazil, and says it is extending its work to companies and individuals involved in supplying weapons to Israel. Bracq said universal jurisdiction is an instrument for pursuing justice and accountability.
