According to France 24, the United Nations says South Sudan’s already dire hunger crisis is becoming increasingly critical.

The UN cited violence, extreme weather and dwindling aid as factors leaving millions of people without enough food.

France 24 described the situation as a “Super El Niño” deepening the hunger crisis in South Sudan. The report was issued on September 26, 2026.

The warning places food shortages alongside continuing violence, weather extremes and reduced assistance in the UN’s assessment of conditions in the country.
