Arabic version: الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل تستهدفان منشآت الشرطة الإيرانية في غارات جوية
In a significant escalation of military action, the United States and Israel have bombed at least 75 Iranian police facilities, including local police stations and security offices, between February 28 and March 10, 2026. The 11th Criminal Investigation Base in southern Tehran, which previously dealt with economic crimes and petty theft, was completely destroyed in the airstrikes. According to Al Jazeera, satellite imagery confirms the extensive damage to these facilities, with a concentration of attacks in Tehran and several western provinces.
The targeted strikes appear to follow a deliberate strategy to weaken Iran’s internal security infrastructure rather than focusing on military installations. The strikes were primarily aimed at the Law Enforcement Command, known as FARAJA, and the Basij paramilitary force, which are integral to maintaining order and controlling civil unrest in urban areas. More than 70 percent of Iran’s population resides in the densely populated regions that were hit.
The military campaign, which began with a declaration from US President Donald Trump, aims to incite a popular uprising against the Iranian government. Both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have called for Iranians to take action against their government. However, a month into the conflict, the anticipated internal revolution has not materialized, as civilians face ongoing bombardments and a humanitarian crisis.
Despite the destruction of police facilities, Iran’s internal security apparatus has shown resilience, adapting to the ongoing military pressure. Increased patrols and crackdowns on public gatherings during Ramadan suggest that the government is maintaining control in the face of external threats. The strategy employed by the US and Israel echoes past failures in Iraq, where similar attempts to dismantle state structures led to chaos and violence. Instead of weakening Iran, the airstrikes have further entrenched state control, trapping millions of civilians in a dire situation.
