According to BBC News, Wigan Warriors beat Leeds Rhinos 40-8 at a sold-out Headingley to move two points clear at the top of Super League. The Warriors leapfrogged Leeds and will claim the League Leaders’ Shield if they match the Rhinos’ result in Friday’s final regular-season game.
Adam Keighran scored a hat-trick and kicked six goals as Wigan recorded their 14th straight Super League victory. Austin Daniel, Liam Marshall, Bevan French and Jai Field also scored tries. Leeds captain Ash Handley scored his side’s only try, while Connor converted it and added a goal on the stroke of half-time.
Keighran’s two early tries gave Wigan control before Handley responded. Daniel restored a 10-point lead before Marshall crossed early in the second half. French scored on his 200th career appearance after Harry Smith’s kick found space, Field added Wigan’s sixth try and Keighran completed his hat-trick late on.
Leeds full-back Lachie Miller limped off early with a hamstring injury. Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur told BBC Radio Leeds that the team had not put its best foot forward, adding that Miller would need scans. Leeds host Hull FC on Friday, while Wigan welcome Catalans Dragons as the Warriors pursue a treble.
