The Bankstown Bruins celebrated 50 years of calling Bankstown Basketball Stadium their home on Saturday night at an anniversary event held at Bankstown Sports Club.
The event saw members of the Bruins community come together and share their insights on what makes Bankstown Basketball Stadium so special.
Members of the Bruins reflected on the local basketball club’s rich history and its commitment to bringing the local community together.
Those who have been with the Bruins since its early days sat on a panel and shared their insights, including life member Vicky Croucher, who saw the stadium built from scratch.
Bruins CEO, Christian Gobolos, was also present at the event and pointed out what makes Bankstown Basketball Stadium special to him.
“I think the fact that it’s about sharing that with so many people, and the fact is, everybody’s been able to contribute towards that over generations. So now were sort of almost in our third generation of people that are now committed to the association,” Gobolos highlighted.
“So we’ve got grandparents that are now watching their grandchildren play at the stadium, and I think that’s what makes it very, very special.”
The Stadium has witnessed many great memories and moments, from slam dunks to nail-biting victories, but for Gobolos transitioning from the Warratah League into the NBL One East League has been the highlight for him.
Bruins star player and former Bruin junior Jason Cadee was also in attendance.
